Here we go again for another edition of the weekly newsletter ??
The past few weeks have been incredibly busy as I've been working hard to secure new locations for my in-person sessions. Excitingly, starting from the end of this month, I'll be available for a couple of days each month in Cambridge, making it more convenient for my clients in that area to schedule appointments with me. Additionally, I'm hoping to expand my services to Leamington Spa in the coming months.
In this week's newsletter, I'll be sharing some new exercises that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine, helping you to achieve your health and wellness goals.
??Not like this. Don’t worry I know what I’m doing ??
First and foremost, I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to all the readers who have been consistently following my newsletters. Your unwavering support is truly appreciated. It is truly encouraging to see new subscribers joining us each week, which indicates that my approach is resonating with those who are interested in it.
As you may know, I have repeatedly emphasised the importance of movement as medicine in my LinkedIn posts and newsletters. I have had the pleasure of speaking with numerous individuals who have recently started experiencing discomfort and pain as they entered their 40s. However, I want to assure everyone that it is possible to achieve remarkable feats by adopting an active lifestyle and incorporating the right training techniques, such as strength training, mobility, flexibility, and fitness (conditioning).
A sentence I hear often is “I used to…” followed by a list of different sports and activities that people did.
Sometimes, we hold onto the belief that we still have the same body and recovery abilities as we did in our twenties. I am guilty of this too, but accepting where you are and making the necessary adjustments to your training regimen can lead to progress.
Believe me, I have had clients who have undergone double ACL knee reconstructions and are now squatting 160kg, as well as individuals who have previously experienced back injuries from deadlifting but are now training pain-free. It all begins with understanding how your body moves and gradually rebuilding one step at a time.
Without further delay, here are some exercises for you to try out this week.
If you spend most of your day sitting at a desk, it's important to consider the impact on your body. Your hip flexors are likely in a shortened position, your shoulders may be hunched forward, and your chest could be compressed.

The cobra stretch is a good place to start.
The next one is to stretch the Serratus anterior which is a fan shape muscle on the rib cage.
Finally, an old video but, if you have access to a resistance band this is something you could incorporate to your lunch break…
I hope you find some value in those three videos ??
Last thing from me today, I’m putting together a low cost membership site at the moment and expect it to be ready in the next couple of months. This will have plenty of help around exercise, nutrition and pain and injury help.
If you would like to receive updates when it’s ready to launch you can go to this link https://www.thebodyfixcoach.co.uk/membership/
That’s all for today!
Enjoy the rest of the week!

1 年All great exercises. The membership site sounds like a terrific idea, James. Lots of great value from 'Gym Jesus'!

1 年Love the Serratus Anterior stretch, something I can do between meetings. Also, the Lunchtime refresh is something I can do in the kitchen whilst cooking. ??
