Three Easy Steps to Start Finding Clients Online

Are you struggling to understand the online world?

Perhaps, you are wanting to create an online program but are not sure where to begin?

You find learning technology frustrating. The language the ‘experts’ use is confusing. AND do you really have to show up daily on social media to make sales online?

I’ve been there. 7 years ago I started my journey online not knowing the rabbit hole I was diving into. It is frustrating, overwhelming, and confusing.

Now I help other Feldenkrais practitioners build a business they love with a simple step-by-step proven process.

In this article, I will share the 3 foundational steps to attract clients online. Doing these steps will help you move your business forward.

?Before we get to the 3 steps. I would like to address the elephant in the room that I see many practitioners struggle with.

?Confidence.

“I’m not good enough.”

“I don’t have the skills.”

“I need more training.”

?When I started my Feldenkrais business it was 10 years after my graduation. I had been teaching intermittently at dance conferences and locally but nothing consistently.

?I was committed to running my local practice and knew I needed some guidance. I hired a Feldenkrais Business Coach and an online business coach.

?Investing in two coaches was scary. It was more than I had spent on the car I was driving.

?“Do you think you can teach your movement lessons online?” my online coach asked when I started coaching.

?“No, my work is best taught in person; it involves hands-on practice and in-person group classes,” I responded.

?I had never considered teaching classes online.

However, I tried it and discovered that I loved it.

Everything changed from that moment.

I fell in love with learning how to run an online business. From personal branding, email, video, sales psychology and more….I was hooked.

?Since then I have invested in the best coaches in the online space. Not because I believed the hype of 20K months, freedom, and laptop lifestyle. My passion was simply that I wanted Feldenkrais to be more widely known.

?I didn’t have years of experience.

I failed high school English.

A dance background.

No business skills.

No skills in technology.

No camera or video skills.

At the time I was a single parent raising two young boys on my own.

Everything was against me.

?I made it work. Even with those odds against me. Now seven years have passed and here I am sharing what works with you today.

?Let’s begin with this in mind. Everything is solvable.

?Before you get to building your online systems these 3 steps are essential to successfully finding new clients and students.


Step one:??Ideal Clients

Figure out who your ideal clients are. Understand how they think about their problem, not what you think their problem is. You may have them now in your current classes. Do you know why they came to you??

Whom do you want to help? Like any business, you must know exactly who you are talking to.?

Designing your business with this person in mind increases your chances of making sales and filling your classes.?

Do your market research to understand what drives your audiences to make the decision to sign up for your classes.?

Discover what they think they need and how they talk about it. You will bring more people into your world by speaking their language. It may not be what you think they need.

Meet them where they are, at their level of awareness of their problem. Once they are in the door there then give what they actually need.

As Feldenkrais practitioners, we know our work can help many people. Yes and, when you are talking to everyone, your message doesn’t get heard by those who really need you.

Do you really want to work with everyone? I definitely do not want to work with people who are not ready to do what is required for them to get the benefits they are seeking. I want to work with people whose values align with my own.

Deciding whom you don’t want to work with and knowing your own values are just as important as knowing who your ideal client is.?

People often connect with your values, more than your speciality. That’s why you first need to start with your ideal client.


Step Two:?Messaging

Now that you understand who it is you really want to help. It’s time to get clear on your messaging.

Effective communication is essential to finding more of your ideal clients. When you get clear, you will find people will reach out to you to find out more about your offers.

By clearly communicating the benefits of your classes, not the features.

People want the sizzle, not the sausage.

People want a good night’s sleep, not the mattress.???

The key is knowing the benefits and how it is going to help them. They don’t care about what is included when you are first attracting them to your offers.

People buy on emotion. Then justify with logic after.

We are in the business of emotion.

Let’s go one step deeper.

Your ideal clients want to know you can help them to overcome their objections and move past their limiting beliefs.?

When your ideal clients see you have the solution they seek AND you address the habitual thought patterns that are holding them back from making the decision to join you, they will take action.

Wrap all this up into your messaging and you have a powerful way to communicate your amazing value with your ideal clients.?

We have covered two of the fundamentals. Now start creating your online content.


Step Three:?Content Creation

There are 3 types of content you can create to attract your ideal clients:?blogs, videos, and/or an audio podcast.

We are really at an exciting time in history where anyone can start creating content online and find like-minded people to connect with all over the world.?

Many practitioners I’m coaching do not like social media. They are worried about annoying their audience, or their friends and family, or scared to put themselves out there. Is that you?


There are two things for you to consider here:

?Number 1.

Social media is social. The old-school marketing of word of mouth still works online. Being social in local groups online and communities with your ideal clients inside has lots of value.?

You don’t start out with ” I’m only doing this to promote”. Start out with the intention of building connections. Connection builds trust. When people trust you they are more likely to buy from you. It’s not so hard when you think of it as making new online friends.

Number 2.

Think about whom you can help. There are people out there right now looking for you, waiting to see your content so that they can find relief.?

What they are finding is someone less qualified than you who has a program. They get disappointed because they didn’t get the results they were seeking.?

Imagine the difference you can create in that person’s life if only you shared your content.?

I know this to be true because so many people find Feldenkrais after they have tried many other things.

What is the right content to create??

Content that helps the search engines (like Google) know how you help so that they can show those ideal clients you want to attract.?

Using search engine optimization or often referred to as SEO is going to help you. SEO is what sites like Google use to show people relevant content they searching for. When someone types in a question or words into the search bar the search engine they are using looks through websites and online content to show them the answers they are looking for. It is critical to understand SEO so that the content you are spending your time and effort creating will actually be found by those who need it.

Do your research, and find out exactly what people are typing into the search engine (google) to find you. It may not be what you think.?

Search engines scan for information after someone has typed in what they are looking for. Your content will be shown to them. Becoming the answer they are seeking.

Google My Business works in this way. Is your business listed there?

Don’t try to be clever with different names that no one is actually searching for. Use the exact questions they are typing in to find answers.

How do you find out those questions?

Answer the public?is a great website that shows you. You can type in 1 or 2 keywords then what you will discover is the exact wording people are typing into the search engines.

Create content with these words and phrases so that your content is SEO friendly.

Next steps.
