The Three C's of Culture

The Three C's of Culture

The Three Cs of Culture

Over the years, I have observed three critical components to a gold medal culture, or what I call the three Cs of culture.

1.    Character. A great culture is built on a foundation of people who are honest, honourable, moral, and ethical. If a company tolerates people who perform but lack strong character, it will never be able to create a winning gold medal culture.

2.    Competence. Great companies have great people—who are talented, trained, and know what they’re doing. They take their jobs very seriously, and they take time to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills. They enjoy learning.

3.    Courage. Great companies attract and employ people whose personal values align closely with their organization’s purpose and core values. They know that the company and its products and services are having a positive impact on the world. These leaders push through organizational fears that often stall innovative, creative progress to create value for the people and missions they serve.
