The Three Businesses Within Your Business

The Three Businesses Within Your Business

Like most of the working world, I was locked down and in a few Zoom calls yesterday with my clients.

One of those calls had a few managing directors in the room and I came out with what my client calls an "Ed-ism" (and ed-ism is the sort of stuff that trips off my tongue that gets him nodding along).

I talked about the three businesses within your business.

The first business was the business you had before the lock down. The environment we are in has changed. Those days are gone. Your clients and customers have seen their world change and they are thinking and behaving differently. Your business must adapt too.

The second business is the one you have today. The one that is in lock down that needs to navigate through the covid-19 virus. It seems daunting, it can be a rollercoaster but also it's an opportunity. Don't squander this time. You have time to reach out and talk to clients, reposition yourself and your business and move forward. If this was day one in your new business when you first started out, with all the assets, knowledge, databases, contacts and know-how then you'd make a success of your business. It begins again today.

The third business is the business you will have as we all emerge from this lock down. You get to decide who it is that turns up, how your business is positioned and what you are offering. The world has changed and your clients will have changed too. The way you communicate and interact will have changed. Sometimes subtly, sometimes it's a more noticeable shift.

So, during this second business phase use your time to connect with your client by managing your time effectively.

There's a few ways to do that.

If you are a managing director wondering where it's all heading and answers are hard to come by then you can reach out to me here to get real clarity on where you are going and where you want to be.

If you'd like help with time management then there's a great tool I've got to help with that which will uncover 4 to 6 hours a week on average.

If you have everything sorted above but it's still not quite going as fast as you wish then there's a couple of ways to help make that happen.

Finally, just need to talk with someone who understands what it's like running a business? Reach out to me and we'll schedule time to talk.

Stay safe.

I'm feeling I need to start charging you for content ideas Ed Pearson, and I would if you were not such a great sounding board. You always go above and beyond for your clients they receive great value. I honestly would not be in the position I am now if it was not for you. do you have any flour you could trade for toilet paper?
