*(Inspiration, Thoughts, Leadership, What I'm pondering)
- "War, War Never Changes" - Coop, Fallout on Amazon Prime. Leads into the next line item.
- "Everyone wants to change the world, they just disagree on how". - Maximus, Fallout, on Amazon Prime.
- The Expanse: Earth, Mars, The Belt, each has a view on how the solar system should work, but they are at odds in values, needs, only to find out there is a new level of intelligence added to the mix. Each experimenting within what they believe is right.
- Fallout Shelter (game), Overseer, experiments. Testing the rules of the game to min/max outcomes. The game, doesn't tell you the rules behind the engine, so people try out different things, discuss on forums, build spreadsheets of data, leverage others insights, and try new next level things. (Some experiments, I'd say press the bounds of ethics(?), but since it's a game, and the rules allow, it was bound for someone to try.
- Ford, American Icon, One VP bought up the majority of all the euro brands. This in turn led to a lot of chaos, excessive options, supply chain woes. An experiment, perhaps based in more belief than valued outcomes. The company did pivot back towards more valued outcomes from customer feedback, reducing complexity.
- Boeing, Virgin Galactic, SpaceX, Blue Origin. Different choices, different reasons. Each doing something different in the same general direction of space.
Ok, so what. What's the take away? The "Everyone wants to change the world, we just disagree on how" kept resonating. The patterns can be seen across businesses, games, in story lines and more.
Leadership wise, are we asking the right quality questions? Are we creating safe spaces for people to bring the real real to the table, so talent can be brought to bear in directions of real solutions? Are we getting feedback in a timely manner, so we can make course adjustments? Are we leveraging decentralized command in a fashion that allows freedom within a framework for greater ideas, standing on the shoulders of our brothers/sisters who discovered something useful? If we leverage an Elon Musk angle, even if we disagree, then go test it. The data will tell us something, perhaps something new we needed to know as well. What other quality questions will carry you and your teams to new levels, and less in the quagmire of "disagree"?
*(Inspiration / Learning) - Digital Humans
I'm sure most folks have heard of neural networks. Robert Yang is taking things a step further. If one really wants to model the brain, it shouldn't be done in silos. Vision, action, thinking, language, etc, together vs independent. They took an interesting agile approach, picking a simple game like Minecraft to start to model digital humans in. Given the large user base, it's also a great platform to figure out how to interact with people, and perhaps craft AI companions to help us with daily lives. The future is going to be an interesting journey.

*(What I'm Listening To) - Skid Row - Slave to the Grind with Lzzy Hale.
In an interesting twist Lzzy Hale of Halestorm was asked to lead sing for Skid Row. I've caught both Halestorm and Skid Row in concert in the past and this made for an powerful combo. It takes me back to my days at MSOE (Milwaukee School of Engineering). I wrote a lot (A LOT) of code while listening to Skid Row. Specifically, this CD was used a fair amount for the Advanced C course I took over the summer session. (That and copious amounts of Mt. Dew). But Ron, you ask, how doesn't the lyrics mess with coding? For me, metal drowns out my own inner thoughts and allows me to focus. (less shiny distractions) I also listen to metal when doing spreadsheets or a bunch of math as well. Same effect, the lyrics don't necessarily get processed in my head. That and double bass and shredding guitars are kind of like fuel (adrenaline/dopamine). One can't be king of the world, if one is slave to the grind. With that, I give you Skid Row and Lzzy Hale, Live. \m/ Enjoy!
*(Bonus Bullets)
- Want to get into Brain Science, Like I did? Understand your Values? Redirect your life in line with your values? Put yourself on a path of Self Mastery? -- The Break Through Experience is the place to do it. A couple days of your time can open your awareness and start shifting the direction of your life.
- Help Train AI, get rewards. Grass is a decentralized network for accessing the public web, and thus accessing the data necessary to train AI models.
- Think back to a happy time, a really, really happy time in your life. Go back as far as it takes to a time when you felt so light you thought you might float. Do you remember it? The carefree feeling? The acceptance of the moment, of yourself, of life? Feeling unfettered by thoughts of the future and oblivious to the past? Feel it a little longer…
Very nice.
