*(Inspiration / Leadership / More Inspiration) - Starship + Booster IFT4 (integrated flight test 4)
Booster got starship to orbit velocity. Hot Stage successful. The hot staging ring was ejected, but they have lighter ones they won't eject in the future. Key takeaway is how they iterate through, collect data, and improve the next version. They fully intended to use the current ring, eject it, knowing there is a better one in the works that they won't have to eject. They didn't waste the opportunity waiting for perfect, when good enough, gets them more data for the next iteration. Booster did its boost back, returned, and hovered. When it got close to landing it was still moving at about 1km / second. (Concerning!.. but...) I watched it go through the 2000 km/hr to 1500km/hr range, the engines lit, and slowed it from that speed to a hover in 10 - 12 seconds. It was a surprisingly fast deceleration. Everyone was on the edge of their seats, expecting a hard impact. Those raptor engines demonstrated their power though and there it was, hovering.
Starship re-entry, attitude was excellent. What was interesting is the plasma from re-entry did burn through at least one of the fins. There were great visuals of it from the starlink data feed. The data feed stayed online for the full duration of re-entry. What was more interesting is even with the plasma burn through, the fins STILL ACTUATED and behaved. Talk about resilience. Starship, regardless of the damage, did it's flip and burn, and proceeded to hover and soft land in the ocean as well. Most Impressive SpaceX. Most Impressive!
*(What I'm doing) - Post Rehab Knee replacement.
Pistol squats on the Total Gym. (ie, single leg, leg presses). So, the first 3 months of knee replacement were, well, pretty brutal. After 3 months started to turn the corner. We're about 6 months in and the split squats were ok, and regular squats were ok, but just not getting me where I wanted to be with dynamic loads/actions. (walking on uneven surfaces, hiking). Close but not quite. So, I took the total gym down to level 3 of 6, and did pistol squats. This allows for a deep squat and it's more isolated. 3x10, 4x12, until I was at 4 x 20 each leg. then I moved up to level 4, same process of sets and reps. Now I'm at level 5, at the 4x12 level. Seemed to hit all the right things because walking around the lawn (uneven/dynamic) and stairs are much more controlled. The graduated levels on the total gym allowed me to slowly bump things up. I'll probably get the bar to add more free-weights when I max out level 6. Bottom line, if something isn't quite working, tinker with it, experiment til something does.
*(Inspiration) - New 3d printable Super Alloy
NASA has developed a new 3D-printable superalloy called GRX-810, which is 2,500 times stronger than conventional alloys. This breakthrough material, designed for aerospace applications, withstands temperatures over 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit and promises longer-lasting and more efficient aircraft and spacecraft components. This revolutionary alloy represents a new era of material science and manufacturing techniques and is expected to transform aerospace technology.

*(What I'm Reading, again) - American Icon - Alan Mulally and the fight to save Ford by Bryce G. Hoffman
There are a number of things that are of interest in this book. I like the way Alan brought transparency to Ford. It's tough to make good decisions, if it's based on fear and fictions. However, when the real real is out on table, and someone can ask, we need help here, it opens doors for others to provide support. Once the hurdle is cleared, the people return to their roles, or may be called upon for other new hurdles revealed.
Alan found ways to not only bring together the Unions in the cause, but the other 2 players in the big 3. One fail, all fail. The supply chains relied on all 3. The unions relied on all 3. If they fought each other, everyone loses. However, if they were resourceful in the short term, had a bit of delayed gratification, there was a longer play, that empowered them all to survive.
I don't want to give it all away, but there are some great morsels of information in this book. Well worth the read.

5 个月Starship re-entry was awesome, made some smores with my Starship replica torch to celebrate ?? ! I've never heard of Break Through Experience but sound interesting. I've done some Tony Robbins seminars (virtually) and got a lot out of them.
