THREE ALTERNATIVE MODELS OF THE UNIVERSE
When we think about the universe we often only think about Earth and other planets of the Solar System. Even though we know it, we often disregard the fact that the universe also consists of stars, the sun, planets outside of our system, and accompanying satellites. The universe’s ways of working are so broad that people interpret them through different means.
Long time ago people believed that everything revolved around Earth, but have now come to the realization that the planets actually revolve around the Sun.
Nonetheless, there are still some alternative models of how people can view the universe in more unique ways. The flat, the open, and the closed universes are the three models we’re going to discuss further in this article.
What is meant by a flat universe?
First of all, we determine whether a universe is flat, open, or closed, through the critical levels of density. True to their name, a flat universe means the universe has a perfect one (1) density level.?
Even though there are still debates on whether the universe we live in is flat, open, or closed, many independent researchers have proved that the universe is flat.?

The Planck Collaboration is one of the research bodies that do lots of analysis, measurements, and checking on the universe’s form. Even so, some other researchers still see the points for other possible forms of the universe from their built-in measurement, such as the closed universe.
The closed universe means seeing the universe as spherical
Planck is one of the research bodies that try to prove that the universe is flat rather than open or closed. In doing so, they operate an observatory that mappes the cosmic microwave background based on their consistent parallel placements.
Nonetheless, many other researchers interpret Planck’s mappings in different ways. They concluded that the space and time in the universe are curved back to the universe itself.?
Since the universe has no canter or edges, its shape is orange-like or spherical. In other words, the universe’s shape is closed.
What about an open universe?
True to its name, the open universe theory is a universe theory that contradicts the closed universe theory. Instead of viewing the universe as spherical, people that believe in an open universe theory also believe that the universe is forever expanding.
The primary reason for such arguments is that there are not enough masses to oppose the universe’s expansion. So, it’s different from the closed universe theory that states the gravitational attraction of the universe is enough to oppose the expansion that it made the universe that has neither centers nor noticeable edges.
