By now, you've probably seen at least one article today talking about the launch of Threads - Meta's platform to rival Twitter. While it's still brand new, we asked our Social team to give us some insights and advice on this new platform. Here's what they had to say:
- Created by Meta - Threads is a text-based platform with content focusing on threads, unfiltered thoughts, conversations, and GIFs (much like the old Twitter we once loved...). No suggested content yet, just a feed full of content from people you follow (hooray!)
- 10 million users within the first 7 hours - Meta made sign up incredibly easy. You simply login with your IG account and import your bio and followers to get started. With barriers to entry removed, we anticipate seeing user numbers scaling pretty quickly on this platform.
- Early adopters - Already seen lots of big brand names jumping on Threads and getting active on the platform. Looks like brands are taking a similar content strategy to Twitter. Pret, Aldi, and, of course, Wendy's, are a few of the first ones we noticed.
- Advice for brands - Claim your name! Set up your account, import your followers from IG and start engaging with your community. Avoid the promotional posts - this is a place to connect and have conversations. Watch the space, test and learn!?
P.S. A big Good Luck to all the SMM's learning to navigate yet another new social platform ??
