Threads of Innovation or Joy of Missing Out?
What a week! Instagram's parent company, Meta, has unveiled yet another social network called Threads. In the midst of our business or marketer lives, this might prompt an inward sigh, "Seriously, another one?". Hold that thought for a second, though.
In our fast-moving world, it's natural to feel a pang of stress when a new platform or tool pops up. It's like being handed a new puzzle when you're halfway through solving the last one.
But let's reframe that.
Think about it - every new platform presents an opportunity to innovate and experiment, to learn and understand something that could potentially be a game-changer for your business or industry. The innovator within you thrives on these chances, on the ability to be among the first to grasp the utility of the new platform and leverage it effectively.
However, it's also critical to remember that while innovation fuels our progress, we don't need to be slaves to FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). Not every new platform, trend or tool will be right for you or your business. And that's perfectly okay. In fact, it's more than okay - it's a cause for celebration.
Let's talk about JOMO - the Joy of Missing Out.
JOMO is the delightful feeling you get when you consciously choose to miss out on something that doesn't align with your current priorities or values. Instead of adding stress to your life, you're choosing peace, focus, and an appreciation for the things you do have and are working on.
This week, as Meta's Threads launched and everyone seems to be on the platform, you have a choice to make. You can choose to be an innovator - diving headfirst into the new platform, exploring its features, and pondering how it can help your business. Or, you can choose JOMO - confidently deciding that your energy is better spent on your existing commitments and the platforms that currently serve your needs best.
Whichever path you choose, remember - the essence of mindful entrepreneurship lies in making intentional decisions that balance curiosity and well-being. It's not about being everywhere and doing everything, but about choosing what feels right and serves your overall mission best.
So, here's to those of us exploring Threads, and here's to those of us savoring JOMO. Whichever camp you fall into, know that your choice is a testament to your mindful journey as an entrepreneur.
Take care stay true to you.
Lucy

1 年Love this post! I've had a busy week since it launched so I'm definitely choosing JOMO for now. I did have a look into it and a browse at other people's posts in threads to see what it's all about though!
