Another weekend, another catalog of the Thoughts of the Week!
The recurring theme continues to revolve around our mindset and perception
How we see the world really does determine how we chose to act within it
I found myself challenging my previous thinking throughout the week
I hope that these perspectives will do the same for you
What did you find most interesting?
Where did you recognize connection or your own thinking?
Was there anything that stood out this past week?
?
All feedback is greatly appreciated
And constructive criticism is not going to hurt my feelings, I encourage it :)
Monday - 6/24/24 – Giving Kindness Lifts You Up
It can be hard to get out of a funk
When it feels like nothing matters, why make an effort at all?
How can we break out of this cycle?

Giving kindness to another doesn’t just pass on positive energy externally
The act itself generates new energy within us

Well, yes and no
Sometimes, we can get caught believing it's possible to skip the internal work creates the real change we seek
If we start doing different things, without changing the way we see, we set ourselves up for frustration?
Yes, the way we act can lead to internal change over time

Wednesday - 6/26/24 – The Reticular Activating System
The Reticular Activating System (RAS) is the filter of our minds
Our brains are constantly bringing a heightened sense of awareness to that which we give significance

Consequently, we funnel out information that the RAS deems as unimportant
This is happening without our awareness
Most of the time, our RAS is operating on auto-pilot
Yet, we have the power to reconfigure that filter
You can take control of your RAS by intentionally prescribing significance
You get to determine what’s important
Unlocking yourself from previous scripting
If you want to Rewire your Matrix, it is crucial to understand the role your RAS plays

Thursday - 6/27/24 - Happiness is in the Pursuit
Letting go of the Finish-Line Mentality
I will feel happy about myself when XYZ happens
Once I accomplish ABC, then I can feel fulfilled
But how often does the crossing of one Finish-Line lead to the extension of another?
Are we pushing our own happiness further out of reach?
And if we allow ourselves to feel good about the here and now, what happens to our drive?
Wouldn’t we lose our ambition?
Maybe, happiness is not in the crossing of the Finish-Line itself
Perhaps real happiness, real fulfillment comes as a result of the Pursuit

Friday - 6/28/24 - Principles, Values, and Thought-Adjustment
What is the difference between principles and values?
Aren’t they the same? How are they different?
How do we know what to value anyway?
In asking myself these questions, I found my perspective shifting
As I explored the concept of principles, I began to question my previous thoughts
Maybe not everything is impermanent
Perhaps there are some anchors that remain, in spite of a changing world
How do we know that our principles really matter?

The Thought of the Day will not be shared on its consistent daily basis this upcoming week
I will be traveling to see family, and look forward to being present with them
That said, if I find myself writing and reflecting, I will share my thoughts
And I do find holidays a great opportunity for us to reflect
I hope everyone has a fantastic week
And my fellow Americans, a wonderful 4th of July
To those outside America, a great day as well
No country should have a monopoly on freedom
As we celebrate it here, let it be celebrated everywhere
Thank you again for your time and your attention
Sincerely yours,
Jack Crabtree
