Thoughts on UFO/UAP/USO

“UFO” ≠ “aliens”.

Many people can’t accept that.

What we are seeing is an adversary government government capability, used for surveillance, or for testing our defenses and responses.

But they are not “aliens”.

We have been emitting RF for about 125 years, meaning that those signals are 125 light years away from earth. Even if life in the universe, even intelligent life, is plentiful, much of it is statistically millions or billions of light years away from earth, with millions or billions of years separating the evolution of our respective civilizations. Even if such life has assessed the Earth for life the same way we do with exoplanets, the likelihood that they have done so and then physically travelled here with probes or vehicles, occupied or unoccupied, even with faster-than-light travel, is infinitesimally small.

And I say that as a person who believes life elsewhere in the universe is likely plentiful.

But we don't have any evidence of that. People who have devoted their entire personal and professional lives and every fabric of their being to this search do not have any evidence of this. We wish we had evidence of this, or even a hint of this, as the discovery would be profound — and no, the nature of the discovery is not why the US government, or any other government or collection of governments, is “hiding” that evidence from humanity, nor are scientists who have dedicated their life to the search “part of the coverup”. While it is interesting that pilots who see these objects may think or believe it is “not of this Earth”, that does not mean it is not of this Earth.?

That is not a logical or supportable conclusion.

There are UFOs/UAPs/USOs out there with unknown origin and seemingly incredible characteristics. The fact that we don't on the surface know what they are is troubling. But they are not “aliens”.

What we are much more likely looking at here is a decidedly earthbound capability — to include not just visual sightings, but also possible manipulation, spoofing, and probing of EO, IR, RADAR, and other sensors and systems.

The idea here in easing reporting on UAP is to not have everything go to “aliens” and get swept under the rug or co-opted by people who think anything like this is automatically extraterrestrial — it’s so we can properly investigate them, especially if they are adversary capabilities which are being ignored or dismissed because it involves a “UFO”.

For all the “But how can they move like that?!” (Like what? Or is it just how you think they are moving...?), there are a universe — pun intended! — of nearly-infinitely likelier answers before we get to concluding that aliens, likely millions or billions of light years from Earth, have developed faster-than-light mechanisms to both observe and travel through space and time, all without physicists, astronomers, astrobiologists, cosmologists, and all manner of experts and scientists dedicated in some way to the search having even the slightest indication.

The entire reason we're sending the series of spacecraft we have to a neighboring planet in our own insignificant solar system is to discover even signs of water (which we now have found), or the existence of the mere possibility of ancient life, or even precursors to life, of any kind. There are a lot of things that aren't explained, but there isn't some massive effort, seen or unseen, to cover up aliens or obfuscate the truth. And even if there were, the truth would be out by now, and then some. We can no longer be blind to this adversary threat.

Opinions in this post are my own.

Well said Dave... that captures the situation precisely. My complaint is the "noise" created by the Ufology community - which is almost all deliberate falsehood - is doing great harm to important efforts to characterize and identify UAP. I think today's news flap is perhaps the greatest example of this corrosive phenomenon we have yet suffered.
