Thoughts for this Tumultuous Time
Susan-Jane Harrison
I help creative writers, actors and motivational speakers bring out their authentic voice to reach their audience. Turn anxiety into the joy of sharing your message by learning holistic, repeatable techniques.
"Change ain't lookin' for friends. Change calls the tune we dance to."
I never thought I'd start a newsletter with a quote from Al Swearengen in Deadwood, an anti-hero if ever there was one! It's important to recognize that while we may not choose the tune, we choose how we dance. Can the dance then, change the tune?
We can choose to think beyond this one moment in our history. There will be many moments more. One thing we can do right now is lean into connecting with those we love, and supporting others where we are empowered to do so.?
These next months will see a lot of chaotic energy - we are already seeing it.? Some of the people around us will become very activated.? You have probably already experienced this.? It's worth taking the time to ask,?"where can my voice be a supportive presence, to help ground others.? And, "Where will my voice be supported?"
As a mother, I never have to look far for where and how I can support.? Also, as a partner, a friend and a business colleague.? If you're feeling powerless, think about all the opportunities you actually have, to make a difference.??For those of you with young people in your lives, be prepared to say something encouraging that you actually believe.? "Aye, there's the rub!" you may be thinking.??
In which case, what kind of support are you needing right now, in order to come to a place where you can answer this question?? Just having to think about can be helpful for you as well.

I help people speak like themselves—powerfully, effortlessly, and with presence. I also help them craft and bring their stories to life—so people don’t just hear them, they feel them.
