Tackling Personal Struggles Alone

Tackling Personal Struggles Alone

.....When people avoid or abandon you in the midst of a stressful or traumatic time in your life, it is usually because they are afraid - and don't know how to cope with trauma.

The friends and coworkers who stay alongside have experienced it and aren't afraid of facing it. They have gone through trials, learned, and are usually stronger people. Lean on them in times of need -- they can surely take it.

Those that abandon you during your traumatic period typically have had no trauma in their past, or cope with trauma by running towards an addiction, or even ignore it as if it doesn't exist. They never deal adequately with the psychological effects.... Why? Oftentimes because they can't - they are afraid. They don't know how to cope. They don't know what to say, or how to act - fear can paralyze inexperienced people: have pity on them; it's not their fault.

You are never alone as you feel.  Fight like hell - and when you win, pull out the weeds in your life and cultivate the lillies. Try to have sympathy and forgive those that abandon; they are simply not as strong as you. They will grow with life experience, but they have not reached your level, and may never will. Your patience with them is key; try to find compassion for their shortcomings which are outside of their control.

Above all, remember in your darkest of times that you are loved, and the world is a better place for having you.

Hi Muffy, You are absolutely correct in your opinion people not able to cope with trauma. I have had a massive brain injury and found that so many people I consider friends were not able to even talk to me afterwards while I was healing. I had to learn everything all over again, such as reading, writing, walking and talking. While doing so, I managed to get my racing license back again within 7 months actually. My wife, my Mom, Dad and kids were by my side during my trials and tribulations, which made me more inspired than ever. To those who couldn't manage my injuries, I have forgiven whole heartedly especially now when I turn laps times 5 or more seconds faster than them!! HAHAHAHA ?? life is great if we can take chances on making it a better place to be for all!! Thank You for your great post! Sincerely, Glenn Rodgerson

It's the strangest turn of events. When in dire need you find out who your closest supporters and friends truly are, regardless of circumstances that surround you.
