Thoughts on the new ACR Poker
Wow, my head is still spinning a bit from all the recent changes on our poker network, but honestly it couldn’t have gone any better so far.
Now, let me start by talking about a question I’ve been asked a lot lately. Many of you are wondering about the name change to ACR Poker and quite simply, it’s now a better representation of our worldwide poker audience that is already large and growing rapidly every day. Plus, we kept our popular ACR nickname.
One of most my common sayings that you’ve likely heard is that “poker is only good when it’s big”. That’s why we’ve taken a lot of risks when it comes to our tournament guarantees, even when we knew it could temporarily cost us financially. It was all about growing the game and it worked to a large degree.
We’ve kept the big theme going with a whole new look and feel at our flagship ACR Poker site. We’ve made tremendous advances in a lot of the big areas of our gameplay offering. Included is a new tournament schedule this year to offer even more to our smaller stakes players. And we also added Mystery Bounty tourneys for a new level of excitement.
Security is another area that we’ve always taken extremely seriously but change is always necessary due to our devotion to continuous improvement. We’ve eliminated Virtual Machines and 3rd part viewing software for a fairer playing environment. Our battle against the bots continues unabated and while the results aren’t 100% perfect, we’re proud to say that we’re the only site that’s delisted on all commercial bot sites (they know what they’re up against).

Giving back even more to our player community has been a third goal. Our new High Stakes Adventure promos have sent players to Cyprus, Vietnam and London this year, all with 6-figure prize packages. Seeing the winners battle some of the best players in the world for almost unimaginable prize pools is really gratifying.
We also brought back our Cage Live in Costa Rica after a hiatus that started during the Covid pandemic. Flying in players to our home city of San Jose to compete in this special cash game is really rewarding to me. One more new benefit to mention is that we’ve started new cash leaderboards for all our tournament series, and it’s funded 100% by us.
Finally, I can’t end this post without talking about all the behind-the-scenes work that was needed for the new #ACRPoker. There are too many company departments to mention as well as employees that went above and beyond to seamlessly deliver this great product for our players. I can’t thank you all enough.
So, that’s all for today, but I look forward to my next post when I tell you about some more great changes that are coming later this year and even into 2024. Good luck and we’ll see you at the WPN tables.??

1 年Congrats on the growth, Phil. I’ve said in a DM to you, and I’ve said publicly, I’m a fan of you, what you’ve built and I understand the gravity of the challenges. I even asked if I could get in the org somehow as a technical PM, haha. BUT, I want to call out one thing you said; “we eliminated Virtual Machines”. You didn’t, and to be perfectly frank, you can’t. By the nature of what they do and what they are, your software doesn’t “know” anything of real certainty about its host. If I can virtualize MacOS to work with iMessage and Apple doesn’t know the difference (and they have their hardware on a tighter leash than you do) then I can virtualize Windows on VMWare with network traffic routing at the hypervisor level and ACR wouldn’t (and couldn’t) know the difference.

1 年Despite those many changes, I’m sure the most of the site regulars transitioned without a problem and that extremely important while hard to achieve. Congrats and looking forward to more good stuff ahead.
