On March 16th, 2017 I attended the first annual #Vidtalks Conference here in Vancouver. There were about 150 engaged individuals in the room who spent that day listening to some wonderful, engaging speakers.
Corey Vidal is the chief executive of the Buffer Festival and has been a YouTube influencer for over a decade
Sunny Lenarduzzi speaks on the power of YouTube and how it can build your brand
Adam Hendle runs a company called FameBit (acquired by Google) that allows you to connect with YouTube influencers for your campaign
Rachel David runs a company called Hashtag Communications
Roberto Blake could not make it but was replaced by Justin Sabarre co-founder of Pushr who opened up the conference speaking on proper ways to use video to enhance your business.
What I first and foremost I found interesting about this group was their passion for video. The belief and understanding that video is a powerful medium to directly engage specific audiences and keep them engaged longer than the printed word can.
The afternoon was spent on influencer marketing
The key point that they made was that it is important to find the right influencer for your brand. You need to work with people who are already excited about the type of things you do and are already talking to their audience about it. You have to let influencers be authentic on their channel and communicate your value in a way that on brand for them. Trying to move them towards a specific way of delivering your message makes them look disingenuous to their audience and loses them and you credibility.
Through going to this conference I have built relationships with people who are experts in this field. If your demographic is 18-34 years old, these are the people your audience may be listening to to make their decisions. Let's work together to introduce your brand, in a creative way, to this audience.
