Perhaps for most of us this pandemic situation is the first global crisis we face. People might compare this crisis to the 1998 monetary crisis, the 2008 economic crisis, or something more recent like the 1918 Spanish flu, the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa, or even the 1815 Tambora eruption whose volcanic ash covered the earth so that the world experienced a year without a summer in 1816.
Of course, the comparison is like that, but the conclusion remains the same, this crisis is different, we cannot take the examples of these crises as the main role models in facing the crisis we are currently facing.
I am sure those of you who read this article are a little bit affected by the crisis that we face today, whoever you are, and whatever your role is in your family, society, work environment, I respect all of you, I really understand how frustrating this situation is, ready or not we are forced to face it. Inevitably we have to create new ways of living, health protocols, work rules and even new life habits.
As of today you may not have realized how great you are at adapting to this situation, you may have become a teacher for your child, or have hone your cooking skills with challenging menus that you have never tried, or it could be that you have thrown away your shame by offering items of your creation that may still be messy.
From the health side, those of you who used to may not think about washing your hands before grabbing a piece of “gorengan” as a snack, and now you may have limited your habit to eat much “gorengan”, even since this pandemic began you may have traveled hundreds of kilos by cycling or running to keep your body fit. Believe me, until now you have become such a great person, I understand, maybe the results are not maximal, or not according to expectations, that's okay. Once again, my respect for those of you who still keep that spirit going, trying various ways to survive this crisis.
This crisis has opened opportunities for us to do introspection and self-correction, we are more objective in assessing ourselves, able to make corrections to negative things in us, while pushing our abilities beyond boundaries we were never able to touch before. We are the same my friend, let's keep on going through this storm.
