Those that deal in specifics seldom fail...

Good morning!

Yesterday, I had a call with one of my mastermind clients. He has been struggling to build his start up side hustle quickly. I asked him to walk me through one of his meetings. It became very clear why he was not moving faster.

He wasn't dealing in specifics.

He didn't have deadlines.

He didn't qualify meetings or expectations before the meeting began.

He wasn't communicating effectively or efficiently.

Here is what I asked him to do and I am asking you to do the same before your meetings today.

Set the intention for the meeting ahead of time.

Write down your goals for the meeting and be specific before the meeting begins.

Open the meeting with a dialogue similar to this:

I really appreciate you being here today and I want to be respectful of your time and ensure we both get everything we need. To that end, can you please share your findings from the report I sent you and anything else you feel is important for us to discuss here? Also, I wanted to walk thru some possible next steps to make sure we are both working together to achieve our mutual deadline and goal for this project. Boom!!

You can be kind and assertive. You can be respectful and clear and direct.

If you want to win, you are going to need to begin doing things differently.

You have 2 days left in the month of July. August is exciting as it kicks off back to school and the fall season! It also is my birthday month so it is one of the best months of the year in my book anyway ;)

As we enter the back half of the year, I need to ask you this: what are you doing differently to ensure you are achieving your goals? Have you revisited the goals you defined for yourself at the beginning of 2024?

Or have you been working on your business and day to day so much that you have forgotten about your big dreams and goals?

Too often we get caught on the hamster wheel and time begins to pass by without any progress towards where we really want to go.

That is when you need stop yourself and ask 2 questions:

What is it that I really want and am I going to take a different action to achieve it or am I going to let it go and continue to settle for what is in front of me?

It is The Who not the How - who is the person that if they were guiding me I would be able to achieve my goals faster?

Get clear on your goals.

Tune out the noise around you.

Reconnect with your why and let it drive you.

The world needs your bright light and the magic within you - it is time to turn it up!

Thanks for this reminder. Be prepared enough and strive to be direct and concise. And reacting impulsively to what someone says or does could do more damage than anything else. So, it's important to maintain our calm and listen first, then respond.
