Thorax Correction ISM

Thorax Correction ISM

In Diane Lee's Integrated Systems Model, she demonstrates the way that a dysfunction in one part of the body can impact on, and cause knock-on dysfunctions, elsewhere in the body. I've found the thorax playing a major role in painful neck, shoulders, hips, knees and feet!

In this video, I'm demonstrating how Diane has taught me to correct a compressed thorax. Once I've corrected the thorax position, I can do a functional re-test of the patient's meaningful task (the activity that brings on their pain) and this can help to work out whether the thorax is implicated in the patient's problem.

In the simplest terms (and yes, I am absolutely sacrificing a bit of accuracy in favour of simplicity here!), if the thorax is part of the issue, then with the thorax corrected, the task should feel easier and less painful. If not, then not!
