The Third Option

Is it the winning that is important or the struggle to survive?
Once you step into the crucible, can you exit the flames alive?
Will the fire leave you scarred, crippled and writhing in pain?
Or will you forever burn, having learned to embrace the flame?
Wise men say the crucible destroys or you exit it far stronger
But I fear you chose a third path and plan to stay there longer.
You care not to leave the furnace, its become all that you know.
Though those flames burn ever bright, your soul has lost its glow.
I expect you can't leave the forge of souls, its a path you can't view,
Melting till the end of days, never stepping out hardened and new
I see now there are worse things than to be destroyed by the flame,
For when you stay inside the crucible, all things remain the same.

4 年Nice. But change is the only constant. Maybe the crucible is the realty to not fear of sense a need for survival instinct and action. Plus potential.
