Your business is a system.?
Your family is a system.?
Your culture operates as a system.?
So many factors shape your life - well beyond your daily tasks.
Take a moment to consider what subtle forces influence you that may limit your perspectives or sway your decisions in ways you hadn’t even considered.
Beyond the urgent emails and meetings that fill your calendar, take time to notice the complex frameworks shaping your life.
Reflect on your upbringing and family legacies that may consciously or subconsciously shape your professional choices and ambitions.
Consider how this family influence shows up as you navigate your professional decisions.?
Did you have a parent who projected their unfulfilled ambitions onto you??
Or grandparents who instilled the value of determination through stories of overcoming adversity??
The truth is many go through their lives without considering what messages were inherited about success, security, status, and work ethic.

Navigating Interconnected Forces Shaping Your Life
Investigate how the past and its installed beliefs permeate your professional approaches, motivating you towards certain accomplishments to satisfy internalized goals.
With the goal being to make choices in alignment instead of reaction, self-awareness of these origins can help you better understand the ever-present influences that fuel you.
In my experience the difference between a life well lived and one where it feels like “no matter what I do, it's never enough”
As you consider an even wider perspective to reflect on the societal influences that have been present since birth. Your ethnicity, gender, social class, family structure, religion, and economic background all carry inherited advantages and disadvantages.?
While you likely feel ownership over your day-to-day decisions, investigating the above areas may reveal that deeper currents are at play.?
By thoughtfully examining the personal, cultural, and systemic scaffolds that bolster or bind you, you can gain more agency in understanding your realm of influence.?
What large-scale change might require collective action to rearrange systems that no longer serve the greater good??

The title of your newsletter also was powerful as it reminded me of Ben Meer who has great content and talks about systems constantly.

10 个月Johanna Lynn Spot on. In our masterminds and at events, I share a slide during Day 1 that says in big giant letters, "Business problems are personal problems in disguise." And the more people in your firm, the more your own personal attitudes, energy, and mindset "infect" others - both in a positive way and in a negative way. People follow not only what you say, they follow what you DO, and most importantly they follow the way you FEEL. Yeah, it sounds woo-woo, but if you constantly complain of "idiot clients" - they'll start to think your clients are idiots. If you refer to your business development team as "a necessary evil" - they'll start to think less of those individuals. It happens in ways that are sneaky, pervasive, and fast - and it sounds like systems thinking encompasses all of this and more, am I right?
