Thinking of starting a podcast for your business? Here's all the gear you'll need

Podcasting is a great way to get your message across to your audience. Best of all, you don't need expensive gear to get started.

Here's all the gear I use for my own podcast and I recommend for my clients as well.

A USB microphone

The first podcast recording equipment you will need is a Microphone.

This is one area I recommend spending a bit more, as generally, the more expensive mics tend to sound better than cheaper ones.

And in the world of podcasting, audio quality is a top priority.

The Blue Microphones Yeti USB Microphone is a great choice for new podcasters.

It’s very easy to use and setup. And the sound quality is great for the price.

Headphones

Next, you’re gonna need some headphones.

In my experience, any decent headphones will do – even the free, in-the-ear ones that come with your phone.

So, unless you’ve got a really big budget, or you’re some kind of audio geek that needs to have the best sound, I’d recommend getting one for under 50 bucks, like the Audio-Technica ATH-M20x that you can get from amazon.

Microphone accessories

Next, I recommend getting some microphone accessories like a Microphone stand or a Pop Filter to add to your equipment for podcasting.

These will help improve the sound quality of your recording by reducing vibrations and other unwanted sounds from being recorded.

Audio Interface or a mixer

Both of these devices are optional depending on the type of podcast equipment you have and your podcasting needs

If you buy a non-usb mic, then you will need to get an audio interface, as it supplies power to the mic and connects it to your computer.

The Mackie onyx-blackjack is a great option for first-time podcasters.

As for a mixer, I’ll only suggest you get a mixer if you podcast live.

Over To You

That’s just some of the basic equipment you will need to get your podcast up and running.

There’s other stuff you’ll need as well, like recording software, editing software etc.

I’ve gone ahead a made a comprehensive list of all the tools that I use for my own podcast and you can download it here.

Hope you find it valuable.
