Thinking of starting a business? Stop making excuses and get planning!

Starting up your own new business can be tough. It takes time to get things set up, moving and get to a point where you feel like it was the right decision and the stressing stops (generally!). The ‘money’ excuse…
When I started ‘Inspire Ignite’ almost three and a half years ago, I kicked myself quite hard. I realised how much money from my relatively good salary I was literally pissing up the wall that I could have been saving/investing/putting towards something that would genuinely making a difference to my life.
- New bag every couple of months - £150 a time - must have!
- A couple of pairs of new shoes - £150 - looking good!
- Magazine subscriptions - £30 a month - defo needed and I defo always read them (errr not really!).
- Night out for dinner and drinks on a Friday/Saturday - £100 – obviously!
- New iPhone/contract - £500 (considerably more than that now!) a year (WTF!) - yes, need that!
Why do we continually buy random and meaningless ‘stuff’ that we absolutely don’t need, or spend money to make ourselves feel better in the short term, instead of investing in building opportunities, our confidence, authenticity and uniqueness - and being absolutely the best we can be in the future.
So, it’s up to you. I’ve learnt the hard way. If you want to stop the excuses for NOT doing something and actually do what you love, do what you’re passionate about and what you genuinely feel a connection to, you need to be shifting your focus towards WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO?
I counted 5 pretty nice bags in my wardrobe and 4 quite nice pairs of shoes 3 years ago - that’s potentially £975 I could have banked to get me started in my business considerably sooner than I did…think how much I could have banked over just a year period.
WHAT ARE YOU ACTUALLY GOING TO DO to give yourself the opportunity to do what you love? You can always keep finding excuses and reasons not to do something (usually money!). Doing what you love could be really close, or it could be really far away - it’s kind of up to you!
