Thinking Outside the Box - CCTV- IP or what else?

The current CCTV offer which is very common across many suppliers, Seadan Security included, revolves heavily around IP surveillance. And there is a good reason for this. Cameras have higher resolutions every day, prices have come down, the units pack dozens of analytic functions and there is one major advantage, one cable to the camera.
The NVR (or network video recorder) does everything, including supplying the camera with power.
Why do anything else? Legitimate question, no doubt.
But what if you had to control the cost and provide high quality images, use existing cabling from and older analogue installation and no multiple adaptors? The answer might surprise you.
Today’s coaxial camera is not old, is not superseded and it is HD. Seadan Security and Electronics has a great offer in coaxial connected cameras with resolutions up to 4K. The prices are in general lower than their IP counterparts. The analytics reside in the recorder.
An average 4 camera system in HDCVI (the Seadan DAHUA HD offer for coaxial installation) can be quite a few dollars less for the same functionality. Many of the simple installations do not use most of the features built in the IP systems.
I personally use a mix of technologies in one system: HDCVI and IP to better suit my personal needs and the reality of the premise. I have no loss in functionality and I get the full benefit of the HD image with all the trimmings.
When thinking about your particular situation and the solution best suited for your environment, do not discard from the beginning the re-use of the existing infrastructure. Saving money on re-cabling may potentially enable you to use funds to increase the number of cameras or even invest in another parts of your business. Of course, a good installer would evaluate the situation and propose the right and balanced solution based on your particular needs.
