Thinking Linking profile...
Hallo beste mensen!
Today, before I resume my python's course. I took a look and my Linkedin profile and I made some chances. I must say that Linked could seems threatening at times. It is not so alien as it use to be, that is some progress there!
Cuba and the Netherlands seems countries from different planets. There people still live off line. If you good at your stuff, people know it. You don't need to brag about your skills. That is why it feels a bit off to configure a profile for Linkedin or write a cover letter. I never did that before. Now, I have to do it.?
There are a lot of “school” who to write down such letters and CV. The other day I read an article if it was appropriated to include emoijs. Some people think it is not serious enough. At the end the author arrives to the conclusion that those debates, are just about generation paradigms. Once the Milenium and Z generation takes over. This debate will be over. There are certain formalities that are still required nowadays that it seems they won't be no longer necessary in the near future. Those who embrace conservative values might be alarmed but new reason to be. New generation has always challenged the values of the previous one.
One of my concerns before I started the course was how difficult it would be to find a job and if I have to be fluent in Dutch. I can read and understand the language fairly good but speaking is yet not great but decent.?
About to find a job. I must say that I am a bit puzzled about the fact that getting a job in these field is not as easy as I expected. That was not the feedback I got when I did my research. I must say that Winc Academy was quite honest about it. They even offer to pay back 75% of the tuition money if after 6 months of be graduated as full stack developer, one has not got a job.?
Right now I am frontend developer and there are plenty of jobs there but I have the handicap of not work experience and these a requirement in most of the job applications... but as we say in Cuba, no ones is born in full knowledge so those with “work experience” once where I am today and someone some employers went beyond the job experience and give a chance to prove the newbies their capacity and I hope I will get that opportunity soon. In the meantime I am getting my full stack developer course done.
By a way. I made some changes to my About which I attach bellow. Critics are highly appreciated!
I am a graduated front-end developer. I enjoy a lot to develop website apps. Coding has become something natural! It allows me to combine my technical mindset skills and my previous academic background (Anthropology) and work experience (organizing cultural events, art exhibitions, etc.?
I am born and raised in Cuba. I moved to the Netherlands in February 2019 (I was 39 years old) and my daughter was born next month. In the meantime I have got some personal achievements: inburgering (Dutch citizenship process) completed in less than two years, got steady jobs, some even demands to be fluent in Dutch.
Living in the Netherlands has been one of my greatest challenges, literally like starting from scratch. Find a Job in my area expertise turned out to be more complex so I decided to make a career switch to my other passion. Jan 2022, I started Front-end developer course at Winc Academy. I remember I had very little knowledge about coding. I has been quite a journey to start from the baby step in HTML to more complex coding languages like:
#Reduxjs, #Bootstrap, #TypeScript, etc.
I remember my first shopping cart assignment, I told myself: “how the hell am I going to do that?”. Nowadays it doesn’t seem so complicated at all. Currently on a new project I am working that allowed me to applied the learning from Winc Academy and incorporate new ons like page animation, useParagrams, Fetch Data from a rest API, set up eye-friendly React-redux app. This is the GitHub repository:

Learn and incorporate all the tech knowledge could be a really tough challenge but once you get there, the difference between in quality between developers is beyond such tech skill. It is more about the “soft skills”, the capacity of be a good team-player and communicator. I believe that is my strong suit. A quick glance into my job experience can corroborate that.
I am open to work in office or remotely, flexible schedule. You are welcome to contact me by phone or email, preferably whatsapp (+31626117235)
