6 Lessons for Managers Leading Their Team through COVID-19
Here are six strategies for managers to keep their team running well.
1. Show how it’s done
The best way you will help your team be productive is by setting an example. Be focus on the projects you take on and the meetings you attend.
2. Communicate goals
- It's your responsibility to delineate priorities.
- Please have individual calls with your team members
- Define goals with clear timelines
- Don’t micromanage, Tell them what to do without telling them how to do it.
3. Foster a culture of open communication
Schedule frequent meetings to discuss on priorities and team-wide issues
4. Have great meetings
Meetings should be kept short. You achieve that by having a clear purpose for each one.
5. Find moments to let your team relax
You can’t go full speed all the time; occasionally, you need to take a break (especially now), so be generous on deadlines.
6. Get outside help
In addition to these strategies, there are external resources you can call on to support your team, such as bringing in an HR manager. They can provide insight on issues that you may have been blind to and introduce you to new managerial strategies to make you a more effective leader.
