Tomorrow, May 31, beginning at 10:00am, Erie's Public Schools students from Woodrow Wilson Middle School, Strong Vincent Middle School and East Middle, a Community School will participate in the Ice House Erie Showcase Event at the Mercyhurst Institute for Arts & Culture at Mercyhurst University. The event will include a student forum presentation, display tours and a panel discussion. Each school held a showcase event earlier this month, where students presented their ideas for projects that use an entrepreneurial mindset to solve real-life problems.
The Ice House program, a United Way funded partnership with Erie’s Public Schools, the Innovation Collaborative and Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit 5, was launched as a pilot for all EPS 7th graders in October 2017.
Throughout the spring semester, 7th grade students participated in interactive classroom lessons based on Ice House curriculum developed by the The Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative. Funding from United Way supported the purchase of the curriculum which is intended to teach students ways to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and expand their individual potential.
