Thinking Differently in April '24

Hi Folks,

I hope this note finds you all doing well!?

April is always a busy time for us – although we like to practice Neurodiversity acceptance year-round!?

It is exciting to see new companies in a variety of industries who have honored Potentia by selecting us as their partners in Neurodiversity.? This year has already seen tech companies, banks, and defense contractors among others who are seeing the substantial business benefits of being more ND-friendly.

We’re also seeing some pretty cool geographic diversity – I’ve been on the calls with folks in the UK and Germany already this morning.? It’s also great to see some significant opportunities for the community here at home (see below).?

I also wanted to share a story from this past month.? We had a great call with an executive who was very interested in Neurodiversity, but worried about whether they were “ready.”? She was concerned about doing the wrong thing.? This is quite common and understandable.? We shared that STARS is designed for companies who haven’t done this before.? I added that, if they wanted to do something enterprise-wide out of the gate, we weren’t ready for that either(!).? I explained that STARS is designed for both recruitment and training outcomes and uses a pilot model where we start in a group or division, share best practices, and learn how to do this optimally in their specific environment.? Happy to say they are now a client and, while it’s still early days, the program is up and running well.

Thanks all for your continued support.? See you next month.?

Reaching New Frontiers: Our Global Presence Expands to Space

Neurodiversity at NASA

This month, the Potentia Workforce team engaged in a fruitful discussion with NASA's Human Research Program on Neurodiversity and employment best practices. The conversation aimed to highlight the benefits of embracing neurodiversity and share strategies for creating neuroinclusive workplaces around the globe and beyond.

“I was fortunate enough to see Dave Thompson come and give a presentation at NASA this week. An excellent talk with lots of discussion afterwards. An important idea for all of us to remember, but especially anyone who supervises or hires. Set everyone up for success and we will all succeed.

- Ryan Norman?- Supervisor, Project Element Manager, Research Physicist at NASA Langley Research Center

The Human Research Program uses research to develop methods to protect the health and performance of astronauts in space. With the goal of traveling to Mars and beyond, HRP is using ground research facilities, the International Space Station, and analog environments to enable cutting-edge science.

Using first-person perspectives from the Potentia team’s experiences with ND self-advocacy and employment, NASA representatives discussed how these unique perspectives can contribute to employee engagement, productivity, innovation and organizational success. The group dove into the common barriers ND professionals face within the world of work, and the best practices organizations can leverage to not only better acknowledge and support those with highly unique cognitive profiles but benefit every single employee.?

This initial session between Potentia Workforce and NASA represents a significant step toward fostering Neurodiversity at work.??
