I’m trying to make sense of the recent reorganization of Google, does my illustration make sense?

  • This would allow for focus on operational excellence for the core (right) and iteration of new ideas in the venture arm (left).
  • Whatever business models work are moved to the core, to scale and be operationalized.
  • Allow for more freedom to experiment
  • Mitigate legal risk by creation of separate businesses (for highly regulated industries such as ISP, cars and antitrust for search)
