Thinking ahead to Christmas time

Christmas is a time for fun with friends and family, but it’s also a time for thinking about where you are and where you want to be. What will you be thinking about this Christmas?
We’re coming up to Christmas and I hope you’re looking forward to it, whatever you’re doing. Christmas is a time for escaping from the world of work for a short while and relaxing with the people who are special to you. However, I always find that at Christmas time, when I’m not immersed in my business, I can see more clearly and do some really effective thinking. Let me explain.
Time out
It’s been a busy year at Venatrix. If you read my last article, you’ll know what I mean. Venatrix is growing and smashing every target we set, delighting candidates and clients alike. Our partnership with Sales Confidence has helped grow our brand as the number one destination for SDR talent. We also moved offices, to WeWork in the heart of London’s tech zone. It’s definitely time to relax and this year, I’m doing it in style.
I’m going to Thailand for three weeks; excellent weather, beaches, food, maybe even a party or two. I can’t wait. It’ll be a great opportunity to relax and switch off, of course. However, I also know that while I’m there, I’ll have my best ideas for what I want Venatrix to look like next year.
I know 2020 is going to be even bigger and better for Venatrix. How will that happen? I think I’ll find out by the side of the Andaman Sea!
How about you?
Whatever you’re doing this Christmas, whether you’re jetting off around the world or spending time at home with friends and family, try to take some time out to think.
This break away from the hectic world of work is an opportunity to ask yourself some questions and search for answers. It’s an opportunity to audit your life, to think about where you are, where you want to be and how you are going to get there.
If you have had a successful year, how are you going to capitalise and build on it? What are you positive about? If you’re not in a good position, in work, life or anything else, what do you need to do to change things?
Think about the last twelve months; where you were last Christmas and where you are now. What have you done in the previous year to construct the life you want? What are you doing, or not doing, that you thought about last year?
The video revolution
I’ll give you an example of what I’m going to be thinking about on my Thai beach. Video is changing everything in our business. It’s changing the way we recruit, with video introductions and video interviews gaining traction. Then, once we have placed our successful SDRs in fast-growing SaaS companies, they are using video more than ever.
In an industry with so much competition, a quick video from an SDR can inject some unique personality into the process. Video is often the passport to securing that meeting with a decision-maker. When they can see your human side, rather than a voice on a phone or words on an email, decision-makers are more likely to agree to a conversation. This is something we talk about a lot at our exclusive SDR events that we stage in partnership with Sales Confidence.
I’m sure that in 2020, this trend will only grow. I’m excited to plan out how Venatrix is going to use video to place more talented SDRs with more terrific SaaS organisations.
Merry Christmas!
So, I’ll end by wishing you a merry Christmas and a happy new year. I hope you get to recharge your batteries and think great thoughts. Onwards and upwards into 2020. If you’re looking for new career opportunities in 2020, don’t wait, give Venatrix a call.
