Think yourself Thin!

Words have power.

You might agree or you might smirk about it and not give it another thought but I want to challenge you to read this post and really understand how our words influence our reality.

 Now you might think: what does this have to do with me ditching this gut and moobs? 

 Stick to your subject, mate! 

But bear with me…

 What you say, whether you mean it or not, becomes your reality. 

 And, nine times out of ten, people will generally believe your words.

 So when you say: I can’t lose weight or I’ve tried but it just doesn’t work for me, so I give up”…

 even if you only say that in a kind of funny way or without giving it much thought, here’s the thing: 

 YOUR subconscious believes you.  

Trust your gut


 New studies have shown, that your gut feeling quite often leads you in the right direction because it’s lead by your subconscious.

 Science teaches us, that the solar plexus, your autonomic nervous system, which sits between your chest and stomach, collects your subconscious experiences to process them.

 So when you find yourself in a somewhat dodgy situation, and your gut is ringing warning bells, which is where that sinking feeling in our stomach area comes from…

 it’s actually a fairly trustworthy source. 

 If that happens, you better trust your gut because your subconscious takes lots of information into account, that your conscious doesn’t even bother considering.

 Now, why am I telling you this?

 if you feed your conscious and subconscious with your reality of 

“I can’t, I’ll fail, I’m not worthy”

 (Place your fav self-deprecating phrase here) 

 IT WILL believe you and you will make it so much harder for yourself.

 So instead of telling yourself and telling others that you can’t lose weight or get toned or even reach extraordinary goals like winning a bodybuilding competition, do the opposite. 

 Feed your brain with positivity. 

Stick post-its with motivational quotes on your bathroom mirror if you have to.

Be kind to yourself and stop bashing yourself down when you speak to others- even if you’re just “joking”.

 

Repeat, repeat, repeat!

 

Repetitions, Affirmations do miracles for your brain. This is how you learn, this is how you build your reality and get yourself that attitude that will help you progress.

 You can break your pattern of thoughts or rather overwrite the negative self-perception with targeted positive confirmation that you f**king well can and that you bloody well will. 

 The best times for programming your brain and getting those positive thoughts and perceptions in, are by the way just before you go to sleep or right after waking up. During these times your brain is in kind of a trance, your conscious is a bit foggy. Feed it with positivity and try to avoid letting negative self-perceptions get in the way.

 

Don’t fall back into old pattern

 We like the familiar. Before my wife became a vegetarian, she took pride in saying “she eats everything”…It made it easy for people to host and there was no awkward barrier of conviction in the room.

 Everyone was happy, no platform for questioning or cringing. 

 So when we had a Roast dinner and my mum asked her, what she wanted, even after months of being vegetarian, she answered without hesitation :

 ”Oh I eat everything!”

 My mum actually reminded her, that that’s not quite true but you see how easy it is to do or say something only because this is how you’ve always done it and because that’s the easiest way.

 My mum actually encouraged her to eat meat, only because this is what they have always done and despite certain facts that have been made public in the last years regarding the health benefit around avoiding animal products, the power of the familiar is so strong that any reasoning is redundant.

 But that is a different subject altogether.
