Think you communicate enough? ?? Guess again.

Think you communicate enough? ?? Guess again.

One thing I'm learning as a leader? There’s no such thing as over-communication.

?How do I know? Outside of my own personal experience, check out these stats:

1.?92% of employees believe negative feedback is an effective way to improve?performance?when delivered with kindness and clarity. (Harvard Business Review)

2.?52.5% of employees want more recognition from their immediate manager.?(Quantum Workplace)

3.?Poor workplace communication results in 52% more employee stress.?(LinkedIn)

Too often, we assume our team can hear what we’re thinking. I’m telling you now, that's a big fat leadership lie. Your team wants to hear from you.

Try these 5 practices to build a feedback culture within your organization.

1. Offer timely shoutouts?- What’s celebrated gets repeated, and tip 2 tells us it's highly appreciated.

2. Have a repeated agenda item for any constructive feedback?to create a consistent space where employees expect what's coming and won’t feel blind-sighted.?Here are a few tips if feedback is scary for you.

3. Ask for feedback yourself.?We learn more from watching than hearing. Lead by example by sending frequent feedback requests about projects, communication, and culture.

4. Send meeting recaps?to ensure you and your team have alignment on what was discussed, the plan forward, and clear next steps.

5. Have a 10-minute morning meeting?to discuss each team member's "3 big rocks" for the day. This gives you insight into your team's activities and where you might need to course-correct their priorities or celebrate their accomplishments

Let's wrap this up.

Have an employee going above and beyond? Give them a shoutout. When a team member isn’t cutting it? Do them the favor of letting them know. Whatever the case, more is always better when it comes to communication.

Which tip can you try this week? Let me know in the comments.

Here's to better leadership habits, week by week. ?

Until next time.
