To Think or Not To Think. That's The Question, My Friend.

To Think or Not To Think. That's The Question, My Friend.

"Don't believe everything you think."

When I first encountered the title of Joseph Nguyen 's book, "Don't Believe Everything You Think," I was intrigued but skeptical. How could one possibly control their thoughts?

I've never?been drawn?to self-help books; fiction, mythology, and philosophical explorations have fascinated me more. As a self-motivating person, I always felt it was against my values or out of my character to read self-help books. But today, if I have gathered the courage to accept this about myself, it is because of my exposure to coaching, the learning from peers, and coaching experience. That's what led me to pick this book from the stands. Little did I know it would challenge my perspective profoundly.

Nguyen beautifully articulates the difference between thoughts and the act of thinking. He highlights how the former is intuitive, and the latter is our misdoing. His message is deceptively simple: Don't Think.

Initially, I dismissed it as mere marketing gimmickry, but I soon found myself engrossed, unable to put the book down. Each page led me to the next. As I flipped through the pages, I realized the truth in his saying. Each page revealed deeper truths, debunking my skepticism with every turn. It was as if Nguyen anticipated my doubts, addressing them in the subsequent chapters.

After the first read, I've become wiser and resolved to break the habit of?incessant?thinking. While old habits die hard, Nguyen's insights have granted me moments of inner peace by?letting go of unnecessary mental chatter. I have tried to block the thinking in one or two instances and found instant inner peace. I have decided to trust the process.

I encourage you to give this gem a chance for these three reasons:

  1. At just 145 pages, it's a concise and digestible read.
  2. The author doesn't just advocate for overcoming thinking; he provides actionable strategies.
  3. The final twenty pages are a handy reference for reinforcing key takeaways and implementing the learning.

This book is a guide for all overthinkers. So, if you need to break the habit of thinking and have yet to read this life-transforming book by Joseph Nguyen, pick it up now. It's available in all major bookstores—offline and online—and?is worth the investment. And if cost is a concern, a free version is accessible on Google—I've shared the link in the comments below.
