Think, Think, Think

How many times do you walk away from a problem with no answer, no clue? Hours spent in meetings with others throwing out whatever will stick to the "sticky board" of thoughts and ideas, and nothing feels right. Then you are driving home, in a meeting "coma," glad to think about nothing, and the solution pops in your cerebral cortex. What happened in the thinking process? The answer was right there, but no one could see it, think it, feel it.
It's time to stop, relax, not think, let your brain process the information, and put the pieces together on its own. You can't force it or make it happen as your brain works these things out on its own accord...is what it is.
What is your best thinking place or practice to rest your mind?
- The drive to and from work?
- The bathroom at work?
- Meditation?
- Yoga?
- A power nap?
- A walk?
- The Gym?
- Mindlessly playing a game on your mobile device?
Please share it with us in the comment section below. Help each other find a better way to navigate the waters of brainstorming by relaxing and let the creative juices flow.
When the brain is allowed to do its thing and move our focus away from active or conscious thoughts, we free up brain cycles, and then the magic happens.
This is why working "smarter," not "harder," is more effective and efficient, especially for knowledge workers like programmers, scientists, researchers, or any position where you find yourself in deep intellectual labor.
The Brain a wonderful thing, and sometimes it just needs free cycles to process, resolve and present a solution to a complicated problem...or, for that matter, where you last left your car keys.
