Think Present But Act For the Future

Think Present But Act For the Future

Was watching a Linkedin Learning video by Guy Kawasaki an American marketing specialist, author, and Silicon Valley venture capitalist and in his introduction he said he was a 3rd generation Japanese American. He went on to share that the first generation were sugar cane pickers, second generation were into real estate , and the third generation were "Ivy Leaguers" including him. In his last words he said " the first generation of sugar cane pickers were the game changers". Why? Because they made a decision to change location because of the lack of opportunities in Japan at that time. Listening to Guy's story birthed the word “Generation” in me and led me to the story of Abraham in Genesis 12 when he made a decision to leave his father’s house to a new land that God was to show him. His decision to obey God’s voice and change location created endless blessings and opportunities for the generations that followed after him. The blessings and opportunities for him and all the generations after him was confirmed in Genesis 17:7 when God sealed it with a covenant. God is a generational thinker and we who are created in His image and likeness must also think generational.

Don’t be selfish in your actions and thoughts “think present but act for the future”.

Reference : Genesis 17:7 KJV

[7] And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
