When it comes to creating solutions to problems, the answer is not always as obvious as some people may like. However, it can often be just that obvious, with the exception of a few things. Too many people limit themselves with their inside knowledge of the process as it currently stands. In many instances, if you cannot afford to hire outside Six Sigma team leaders or members, you need to put yourself in the position of an outsider looking in to arrive at the best solution. It’s hard to separate yourself from a process sometimes, which is why looking at it from an outside perspective might actually make the solution much easier to find.

Six Sigma Training teaches the by-the-book way to use the process and tools to create your own improvement projects and analyze the way that your company or organization is operating. If you use those tools effectively, you will be able to clearly create a fact-based, data-oriented solution that is certain to produce positive results. However, this solution and step-by-step process might not be so easy to see when you’re on the inside. It might still require you to get creative and try something new to see how things work out. If, for example, you find a solution that might work out, you should ask the opinion of someone you know that understands the process, but isn’t a member of the business.

By sharing ideas with your colleagues, associates, or even family members that don’t work in your business, you can often benefit more from Six Sigma Projects because you will be able to get that outside perspective without paying for outside Six Sigma team members. No matter how you go about it, Six Sigma can hold your hand and help you along, but it’s not going to do everything for you. When the solutions aren’t so obvious, that’s when it is time to get out there and get creative to see what you can come up with by changing your own thinking or perspective.

When it comes to utilizing Six Sigma and its tools, everything is relative. That doesn’t always mean that the answers will pop right up, though. If you are forced into a corner where you have been made aware of the problem but can’t find a solution, take a step back and give it some thought. Allow yourself to be as creative as you want, because nothing should stop your business from performing at its best
