Think like a winner
Think like a winner by Dr. Walter Staples
About twenty eight years ago I attended a seminar where Dr. Walter Staples was talking about his new book: Think like a winner. I was so impressed that I asked him if he would consider being my mentor as I was in the process of writing my own book: Become your best. He graciously accepted. As Dr. Walters lived in Blackburn Hamlet, Ottawa, we met on several occasions. He would share his experience about the ups and downs of publishing and marketing his book. We developed a relationship for which I am still very grateful.
In his book, Dr. Staples shows us how we are limited in reaching our full potential by our faulty personal belief system. Inhibiting feelings such as our fear of failure, rejection and inadequacy affect our thoughts and mental programming negatively. So if you want to get the results that winners get, you must learn to think like a winner thinks. The good news is that you can re-train your mind and thoughts to focus on what you desire to bring into your life.
Winners live mindfully and purposefully. They set smart goals and make them their focused priorities. They develop positive mental attitude and an abundance mindset. They understand their worth and nurture their self-esteem with regularity and discipline. They learn to talk to themselves like a good friend would. Through their confidence, they honestly believe that they can can achieve anything they really set their mind to.
Although written in 1991, Think like a winner is still considered as a veritable encyclopedia of success ideas and concepts, and anyone could benefit by applying these ideas to his or her life. Although it may be difficult to obtain nowadays, I strongly recommend it as a complete manual for personal and professional development.
