Think, Eat, and Sleep,
Had great pleasure to present this morning at Legia Warsaw FC training centre in Warsaw. Delivered a practical session on sports specific gym and pitch training for Football involving the use of cognitive training as the major outcome of both sessions.
Had the great pleasure to meet Nick Littlehales who also presented on the importance of sleep and recovery. Nick Littlehales is an innovative, world-class thinker. He designed the sleep solution for Team Sky's riders - who have now won the Tour de France four times - and British Cycling, who have used his principles of sleep optimisation at the last two Olympics to great effect.
My biggest go to for recovery is rest and digest, so meeting and discussing all things recovery with Nick was really insightful.
One of main focuses at the minute is trying to train, educate and regulate Strength and `Conditioning coaches in our industry. There are too many rogue individuals masquerading as qualified S+C coaches, the issue I have is
1) there are imparting poor standards of coaching in the field of S+C
2) They don't realise if we turn into a litigation culture of suing (like the US) an athlete has 10 years to sue a coach, even if they have parted company with a coach in that time. Most S+C courses will not cover you for this scenario.
Listed below is only 1 of 3 globally recognised S+C awards we are running at Queens University, in Belfast. If you are an up and coming S+C coach and looking to develop the basic skills then this course is suitable for you.
