Interesting interview with Satya Madella on Dwarkesh's Podcast. Plenty of interesting takeaways, mostly centered around AI and Quantum. The three most interesting tidbits
- "The new workflow for me is I think with my AI and I work with my colleagues" This is foundational. Satya is acknowledging the inherent value of a super intelligent on-demand thought partner that extends his ability to think effectively while acknowledging that human change, collaboration, change management, teaming, leadership...whatever we want to call it, is what he spends time with humans for. This is from a guy with an extraordinarily unique perspective. He is surrounded by tech, including 10 AI agents, and leads one of the most successful global corporations of all time.
- Satya makes an often overlooked point about one of the barriers to widespread adoption of AI - legal structures. He point out that our entire world is built around human ownership, rights, and liability, and these frameworks must evolve before AI systems can be deployed at scale.
- On mixed reality - "Presence, that is the dream of mixed reality....It's proving to be one of the harder one of those challenges." We are still waiting for that moment when mixed reality breaks through and becomes a productivity tool. In person interactions are still the gold standard and even with decades of work on mixed reality it's proving to be much tougher challenge to crack than AI.
