Think Again In 7 Steps

Think Again In 7 Steps

I started my new role 3 months ago and with it I am immersed in a new environment, company and team culture. Every day I meet many intelligent people who are doing fantastic things. Many processes are familiar or slightly different from the approaches I am used to, while other processes are new to me and raise many questions. I don't give it a good to bad rating, just different.?

One thing that helps me to coordinate and prioritise my thoughts and activities are certain frameworks, so that I can create a comparability on the one hand and get an overview of the essentials on the other. I came across some very interesting approaches in Adam Grant 's book "Think Again".

Think Again looks at cognitive errors, biases, prejudices and blind spots in the mind. It explores our inability to change our ideas once they have been established. No matter how much knowledge and experience individuals possess, they cannot avoid logical errors in their thought process.?

My 7 steps takeaways from the book for my personal "Think Again" TA-Framework.

1. Think like a scientist. Embrace the process of making decisions based on actual data rather than intuition or observation alone.?

2. Embrace the joy of being wrong. Admitting that we are wrong don't make us look less competent, rather it is a display of honesty and a willingness to learn.?

3. Know what you don't know.?

4. Rethink your actions, not just your surroundings. We bring a lot of prior knowledge, but can all knowledge be applied one-to-one or do actions need to be rethought??

5. Ask what evidence would change your mind?

6. Acknowledge common ground.?

7. Make time to think again.?
