Things that organization can do for employees emotional wellbeing

Amidst the situation that COVID-19 has created around the world, one thing that organizations, schools and other institutions have realized -- is the importance of mental health and emotional wellbeing. People are scared, worried, sad, depressed and experiencing all sort of negative emotions due to lockdown, lack of social interaction, excessive use to technology and many more reason. As things are starting to get normal, we need to redefine and re-emphasize our focus on Emotional Intelligence to improve the mental health of our fellow human beings. Here are some steps that corporates can take for the emotional wellbeing of their employees:
1)?????Listening Activity
Leaders in the organization needs to start a practicing to connect with employees on a personal level and hear their emotional problems out! No matter how personal the matter is, leaders need to hear it out, empathize with their situation and offer positive advices. Leaders can create a trickle-down affect by encouraging teams to start this practice across the whole organization. Just by listening each other out, can create a big difference and employees can feel connected to their managers and to the organization.

2)?????Recreational Activity
Employees have been stuck at their homes for quite a bit, they might have been tired of seeing the walls, faces and may need a change of scenery to refresh their minds. Organization can take employees out for recreational activity out-door that is closer to the nature such as National Park, Beaches or in Snow. This will help them refresh their minds and create new happy memories and build stronger ties with their team mates.
3)?????Counselling or EI Training Session
Like everything in life, EI needs training and practice. Often employees are not able to identify their own emotions and emotions of others, which leads to workplace conflicts and misunderstanding. By having an affective EI training session, manager can better understand their fellow colleagues, themselves and manage relationship inside the organization and externally.
Lastly, emotional wellbeing is directly proportional to the productivity of the employees; hence it is important for organization to take steps for employee’s emotional health. Listening, recreational activity and EI training are some of the few things that organization can do for their employees emotional wellbeing.?
