THINGS THAT OCCUR AND OTHER THINGS THAT DON'T OCCUR

The cycle change that is happening in Humanity can be felt, but we are not able to understand the processes. We can feel the effects, but we have great difficulty in detecting the original origin by which the causes that are now occurring are activated and developed.

This phenomenon has always occurred in the changes of the Humanity cycle. The ephemeral existence of life of a human, the efforts to solve the problems of adaptation in relation to the habitat, the satisfaction of individual needs and desires, the instinct of conservation, have contributed to diminish the cognitive capacity on contemporary events with the social environment, own and foreign.

In the past, the processes of change of model or cycle, in relation to human interaction or the conception of the world, were developed under very tangible premises and whose variables could be observed through direct actions. The decisions taken by the highest instances of power were elaborated, evaluating the level of success or failure, by observation and empirical rules or methods of comparison and also invoking the benevolence of the gods.

Currently, the arguments that motivate and originate the causes of human interaction, remain basically the same as 5,000 years ago. The difference in relation to ancient times refers to the behavior and attitude of the current human being, compared to established rituals, habits and stereotypes. And modern individual, has a greater comprehensive capacity on characteristics and dimensions of the environment, the origin and evolution of Nature, advances and scientific and technological developments, the rules of coexistence, etc. Paradoxically, the more information we have about our habitat, condition and existential reality, the less capacity for interpretation and reaction to natural and social phenomena, we have. An irony.

What makes people, even having accurate information about a social, humanitarian or environmental phenomenon, do not react to situations of serious risk to our coexistence and survival.

For the first time, for 20 years, Humanity is interconnected. We can know in real time what is happening anywhere in the world. Also today we can access technological and scientific information that only a few decades ago, was available for a select group of humans. Our degree of well-being provides us with living conditions based on comfort and safety. We have decided to deposit our destiny to the authors, managers or owners of the new sociological, technological or communication relationship models. We have ruled out our survival to the design of the gods.

The individual today has a high degree of information that would allow him to discern about convenience or inconvenience with much greater advantage than our predecessors. However, thanks to advances in human rights, technological and scientific developments, we have delegated our ability to decide. We have created political, economic and social organizations in which we have deposited the task of taking care of our design or purpose to carry out things.

 This scenario based on globalization has been built with the purpose of making our existence compatible with the challenges of the future. However, this is not happening. The level of uncertainty in the immediate future of our societies is clear. Why is this happening?

When an artisan built an object, knowledge of the process, from the processing of the raw material to the use of the good, was under his control. It is true that the scope of his performance was restricted, in return he made the decisions that would lead him to finish the work successfully.

Currently, we know absolutely nothing about the processes that affect any of the functions or tasks we perform. We cannot decide on the use that will be given to our participation in the process, whatever its condition.

We do not know the facts that directly affect reality. We obtain the information through media processes affected by interest that in many cases, produce a distortion of reality.

The social movements that are happening all over the world are nothing other than a phenomenon caused by uncertainty, fear and loss of trust in organizations and their leaders, responsible for providing the results for which they were created.

For only a century, a worrying phenomenon has been felt that affects our future. Pollution of the waters of the planet. Are we aware that water is the element that makes life possible?

The pollution of the oceans and inland waters, both are part of a single cycle, will be the cause of an environmental catastrophe, only comparable to the disappearance of dinosaurs.

As a consequence of the natural water cycle, we only have 3% of drinking water in the world to live. We currently have the same amount that dinosaurs enjoyed 65 million years ago, although the cause of their disappearance is different.

The available data, thanks to the technology we have, indicates that the quality and quantity of this essential element for life is in crisis. Even so, we continue to degrade water. How is it possible that having the technology capable of predicting a critical scenario for the next 20 years, we are still contaminating with chemicals and toxic an element that requires safety and health conditions, compatible for use and consumption for our survival?

If we consider that more than 70% of the use of fresh water is used in agriculture, 17% in industry, the rest of the water is for human consumption, that is, drinking water, we can understand something better where to look.

It is true that Agriculture is vital for the subsistence of the human being. Precisely because of this, it cannot be, as a consequence of the use of pesticides, toxic agro, fertilizer and other substances, a risk to people's health. There are solutions. Why are they not adopted?

Another phenomenon of great magnitude is happening before the impassive gaze of the people. Not only ordinary people, but people who have been designated to solve problems.

Invasions of aquatic species produce and have produced damage in the last ten years in the western world, worth 545,000 million dollars, not counting those produced to the environment, whose dimension escapes the intelligence of the writer. Half of the gross domestic product (GDP) of Spain.

Except for honorable exceptions, the solution generally adopted to combat these alien creatures has been to try to poison them by chemicals and toxins. Has it ever occurred to anyone that we are also poisoning the aquatic ecosystem? How many native species have been eliminated in the sterile task of ending this uncomfortable host? How much of that poison are we consuming in a vegetable, a fruit or a meat? There are compatible solutions that are effective and compatible with environmental balance. Why are no measures taken?

At this point, we can better understand the initial part of this brief presentation. I have no idea how we are going to get out of this complex situation. All we can do and are doing is, every day, lead by example.
