Things are moving

It has been another busy period for me but lots of exciting developments going on.

I have been visiting a number of growth hubs across England including Lincoln, Coast to Capital, M3 Enterprise, Swindon and #D2N2 to name a few. There is a real passion across these organisations to help businesses and I am delighted to say that they are keen to build their understanding of intellectual property.

I have delivered presentations for the #ICAEW, IFA and #CIMA. The welcome has been warm and a real interest in the subject. I still hear the line that a number of them are purely 'compliance focused' and don't offer any business advice. This sits against the #SME communities view as their bookkeeper/accountant being their most trusted business adviser. With the development of Cloud based technology and digital recording of transactions the face of the profession is likely to change radically over the next few years. So offering business advice may be a great USP to keep and build clients.

It has been a pleasure to work with HMRC and Companies House in delivering a first of its kind webinar to pre and new start businesses. The webinar took place on 20th March and the feedback was really positive.

Next stop Sheffield - great to see the region taking IP seriously and included in their digital strategy. I am also visiting Stoke, a pilot event for banks and accountants in Preston, meetings in London on 26th April for World IP Day.
