The Things That Make Me Go Oooooooooh!

This is it. The final article. I set myself a target of an article a week to publish on LinkedIn for one whole year. Over 52 weeks I have documented my business build journey, highlighted inequalities, that exist today and those existed when I was young. Talked about conditioning, finance, feminine and masculine energies, shared some of my previous adventures in employment. I have looked at mindset and the benefits of travel, habits, and nature. Shared my Artist’s way experience and written about money and about love.

Today I am indulging myself with a random list of likes and dislikes. An insight into the workings of my mind and my life and if you have read any of my articles you might recognise a pattern. Let’s go;

The Things That Make Me Go OOOOOhh

Trees, because if you look closely, you can see how unique each one is. The tall, old trees have limbs missing, have scars and are covered in soft mosses and lichen. A forest full of trees is like a city full of people, all scarred, all different, all trying to stay upright.

Mountains, the sheer size, and majesty, unpredictable, beautiful, reducing the importance of us humans. Little me.

Children all ages and stages, the vulnerability and humour, the exuberance, and the fun.

Warm breezes

Italy, the food, the people, the language, the clothes, the culture, the coffee, the scenery did I mention the food?

Libraries I don’t know why they are not full to the brim every single day with people queuing around the block. I am off to New York next week and will be visiting the NY City library just to absorb the feeling of being surrounded by so much knowledge, so much history, so many stories.

My bed; The Cloud. I bought a heated underblanket last year and some flannel sheets. If you are ever wondering where I am and can’t be found in the library, the woods, or the kitchen; I’m in Cloudland, reading a book or dreaming of forests and mountains, or having a nightmare about what I need to cook for dinner.

Camping, where time expands, the rougher the camping the further time expands. I slept out under the stars last year, wild in a sleeping bag on a summers evening, was visited by an owl and listened to the chorus of wood pigeons in the valley as dawn broke. Magical.

Swimming in the warm, rough seas of the Atlantic Coast of France. Long sandy clean beaches and surf that’s UP. Surrendering the swim to float with the rhythm of the waves.

Homegrown carrots shaped like pairs of legs, I used to like to line them up or walk them to the children when they were toddlers, play a game of mini football with them.

Front room boogies, I even have a set of disco lights for impromptu pyjama grooves. I may even have a playlist! Dua Lipa and a bit of RiRi!

Summer grasses. I take part in No Mow May and extend it to June, July, and August and sometimes September through to April. I love the wild grasses and don’t like the lawnmower.

The Things that Make Me Go Urgh

Radishes, I cannot fail to hide the disappointment if one appears in my salad if I am eating out. Maybe this is why I eat out rarely.

Accidentally stepping on a snail after the rain. We take the time to move worms, caterpillars, and snails into the verges and out of the path whenever we can. Slugs unfortunately must fend for themselves, unless I can fashion some twig, leaf rescue contraption, I don’t want to be touching a slug. Soz.

The water that I find sometimes at the bottom of my kitchen bin, where does it come from and why is it there and why do I only notice once it’s dripping off the bin bag on the journey to the outside bin?

Dog poo, I can’t even begin to describe what the sight of it does when I am out with the children. I scream an alarm (it is a bit dramatic, even I admit) as we walk along if I spot any. A dog walker swinging a poo bag also is not an attractive sight for me nor is an owner standing to attention while the contents of the bag is in production. I love dogs, gorgeous things, they make me go oooh, wouldn’t have one though for this reason.

Furry teeth. I am the Chief of the Toothbrush Police, when the children were small, rather than Edward Scissor Hands it was Mummy toothbrush hands. Brush your bloody TEETH! My poor neighbours.

The Things That Make Me Go AAAAAAAAArhg

Targets set for me without me.

Lack of visibility because of my fading (long faded) youth, greying hair, and gender.

Tech, they mess about with it. I learn and must practice and relearn and then practice and then I am hit with an update or a change of system. Why? I am a busy woman; this is making me busier for no reason at all. Tech people, just LEAVE it, please.

My washing pile, why are there so many socks? All black though, you do learn some hacks when you have so many small people.

Wet weekends actual and metaphorical.

Creating an imaginative dinner every single night that everyone in the house likes and will eat and has some sort of nutritional value. I normally find a load of stuff in the fridge throw it all together and call it a ………. (something, please insert lentils, chicken, noodle, carrot) surprise.

Broken domestic appliances that cost £10 less to fix than to replace.

Obviously I have more Ooohs, Aaarghs and Urghs. It depends on my mood, my hormones, the weather, the comfort of my underwear. I do know though that I will never grow, eat or buy a radish and the love I have carrots that look like a pairs of legs is everlasting.

Lucky I can I concentrate on the things I love, gravitate towards the things I love and appreciate the things I love. Everything else is just life. What are the things that make you go OOOOh?
