Things I've learned this year

You’ve been reading and listening to me talking non stop about Hispanic unification this year, and you know what? I’m not stopping because I see we are winning, we are more every time, we are stronger -- we said last year we were going to unify the Hispanic community and here we are, making noise, believing in ourselves. With this great year came big realizations, commitments and passions, so I thought I’d share some of my personal learnings during this Hispanic Journey:
- Educate Yourself.
With this I mean to learn and be aware of our own power. During Hispanic Heritage Month this year I had a lot of speaking engagements where I presented powerful data about the huge contributions we make to the country, and it's very impressive to see every time how knowing the facts can help us move, act and work towards a common goal. So: be aware, be informed and always keep learning.
- Train Yourself.
I’m a trainer myself, and I know by first hand the importance of always finding ways to be better at something, and most of all, of transmitting that power and knowledge to others. -- I would be happy to do some online training next year, let’s put something together! Any ideas?
- Speak Up.
Sometimes people don’t see and know things, so we need to tackle this blindness and speak up about what matters to us. Be awake to our own power, our own potential, always be a voice for those who are afraid to do so.
- Be passionate.
Don’t be scared to care. A lot of what I heard this year is about my passion, surprisingly this is something that I hid before, and now I believe is one of my greatest strengths -- Everything I do is with intensity, so my learning is that all of us need to recognize our strengths and work on them to keep growing.
- Be strategic.
About yourself and about where you want to go. Simple as that.
- Plan, plan, plan.
We all need it, it is our way to go, it helps us in achieving our goals.
- Slow down to run fast.
Perhaps one of the most valuable learnings of 2019. The craziness of the year demanded time to slow down and for me this time meant time for reflection, for taking care of myself, for being with my family and friends in order to know where to run next.

5 年Online training would benefit many Hispanics. A couple of ideas: 1.Training in public speaking. 2.Several videos explaining specific data regarding our contribution to this community. We can spread those videos through social media. #weareallhuman #latinx #latinasurge
