You Still Have To Do Laundry!
A year and a half ago, my husband and I decided to take a career break and pursue a dream. The mission: travel across the US for two years and visit all of the National Parks within the lower 48 and many other American Treasures. Along the way, we learned a lot and relearned things that will help us in the future,
Starting out on the adventure, lots of adrenaline and expectations of fun and seeing new things and meeting new people every day. It doesn’t take long to realize that as in life, there are still things that you need to do that may be less than exciting. You still have to do laundry, grocery shopping, finding a pharmacy, and taking the car in for an oil change for example.
That is life. Moments of fun and excitement followed by times of tasks and choirs so that you can make the most of the moments of fun and excitement. The key is balance and making sure you make time for the things that are important in life and the things that you “must do” don’t become all that you do.
This is also true in business, every job has some component of "fun" or "excitement". If you are in sales, that could be closing that big deal you have been working six months on. If you work at a restaurant, it could be seemlessly pulling off that catering event for a wedding for 200 people, making the bride and grooms day special. But in each of these situations, there are many moments of doing the mundane or boring activities that make each of these items successful. It could be making sales calls to find that special sale or it could be doing the dishes and chopping vegetables for the catering event.
Enjoy the good times in life, but remember to do the laundry!
