Like many of you in the Be Well Beautiful Woman?community, I have been out here in this dating world. One of the main ways I've met people has been on dating apps, like Bumble, which I will use no matter where I am in the world. While in?Chicago recently I matched with someone and the next day we met up in person at a decadent steakhouse. It was a lovely first date, perfect from most accounts - filled with lots of laughter, good food and spirits, a decent amount of flirtation, insightful conversation, and talk?about connecting in?Chicago in a couple weeks, which is when they'd be back in town for business. We hugged a little bit longer?than usual and then parted ways in?separate?Ubers. I was on cloud nine from the date, sure I would hear from them the?next day, then crickets. I even sent a text letting them know what a good time I had and to have a safe trip home, and still nothing. Four days later, yep ladies, nada. I felt?bamboozled. I had this flashback of Queen Latifah in?Just Wright, where she is totally vibing?with this dude on their first date, only to discover he?doesn't feel the same way.

I'm not going to lie y'all, initially my ego was bruised. I went?through every exchange we had that night to see if I missed?some signals of their disinterest in me and I couldn't conjure up anything. And then I stopped myself, and said,?"Sis, what are you doing?!?!? If this person?doesn't want you, then they are not your person. Let it be."?Accepting what was presented to me allowed me to return to myself, and the truth of the matter, which is,?whatever I'm seeking is seeking is seeking me. When I meet that person, I'll know on a visceral, vibrational level, they are mine.

I was reminded, once again, that everything in life is?unfolding for us, and the date was just that, a moment in time. As good of a time as it was, the fact it?didn't?materialize into anything means absolutely nothing except that it wasn't?supposed to. Unattaching ourselves to outcomes allows us to not only enjoy moments as they unfold, but also the aftermath, so we?can get back to the business of being our?beautifully,?divinely made selves.?All we ever have to do is trust that Source is always conspiring to us get us what we need, work to keep our hearts and minds open, and make decisions that are aligned with what we want, and the magic of the Universe/God/Source will always unfold. Every. Single. Time.

The next time you find yourself being disappointed by an outcome, I implore you to ponder what it is teaching you - whether it?be a perfect date not?calling you, finding out you?didn't get selected for a job, or someone you care about starts to show you their true colors. Allow the lessons to unfold, remember who you are and whose you are, and recenter with the expansive vision for your life, and trust the Universe to take care of it.
