The thing that holds it all together

The thing that holds it all together

While Lockdown 2.0 has had its drawbacks (I think I’ve forgotten how to hold a hockey stick), we have taken the opportunity to get some bits and pieces done on our house.

The easy part was the front - the new windows are in, and the whole front of the house has had a lick of paint, so it’s looking as new as a house built in the 1880’s can look!

The back of the house was a different beast.

There’s not much access to the back, so the builder suggested a special type of scissor lift, but even then we were left with a couple of unpalatable options:

  1. Use the side alley and move the shed and all its contents
  2. Use the back gate access and knock down the patio wall and take off the garden gate and trellis

It wasn’t an easy choice, and in the end we went for neither, opting for a more traditional way of accessing a three-storey property: scaffolding.

The scaffolders were fantastic – eight of them appeared as if by magic, went hammer and tongs for an hour and a half and it was all done – access to all areas and all levels.

Since then, everything’s been a lot simpler: the painter’s done his stuff, the roofer’s tidied up some bits and I’ve spent a lot of time cleaning gutters, pointing masonry and tagging up phone wires, with just the windows left to clean.

Without the scaffolding, (thank you Ace Scaffolding) none of it would have been possible, and it’s a similar idea when it comes to your company’s brand – it’s the foundation upon which everything else is built.

Unless you know who you are, who you serve and how you help, and unless you’re able to convey that visually, all the sales and marketing in the world isn’t going to be as affective as it could be.

So here’s the question:

Is your brand doing its vital, foundational role, or does it need some restoration?

If it’s the latter, let’s grab some time to chat about how you can change that as you rush headlong into what looks like a much brighter year in 2021.

Have a top weekend – speak soon and stay happy, healthy and active!
