Thing to do before an interview

Thing to do before an interview

An interview is a structured conversation where one party asks questions, and the other party provides answers. Interviews can be conducted in various formats, including face-to-face, over the phone, or via video conferencing but there are some of the major points candidates should follow before their Interview which are listed below: -

1. Research company details, job details & profile of the interviewer

Start by visiting the company’s official website and interviewer's social media profile. There, look for sections such as "About Us," "Our Story," "Mission and Values," and "Leadership." You can learn about the company's history, mission, product, and nature. On the other hand, reviewing the interviewer's profile can be profitable. Identifying shared interests, experiences, or connections can create a more engaging and personable conversation.

2. Prepare & practice some relevant question

Without preparation & practicing some relevant questions, you might feel unsure about what to ask, affecting your confidence. This can be noticeable to the interviewer, making you seem less competent or engaged. Preparing Thoughtful questions shows that you’re genuinely interested in the role and the company. This can make a positive impression on the interviewer, highlighting your enthusiasm and commitment. Stand in front of the Mirror and imagine that the Mirror person is the interviewer, and you are giving an interview which can enhance your confidence & decision-making in a real interview.

3. Professional Attire (Dress Up)

Most of the candidates just wear casual dress, which makes the interviewer less attentive to them. This could also be the reason for your rejection, as the first impression is the last. Professional dress-up is important before the interview because it helps you make a good first impression on the job interviewer. Wearing professional attire can also boost your confidence. You'll likely feel more confident and capable during the interview when you feel well-dressed.

4. Make sure to take your hardcopy CV & relevant documents

Most of the candidates think that mailing a CV is enough which is the wrong conception they have got cause interviews take only 8-10 seconds to review your CV while shortlisting. Bringing hard copies of your CV and documents shows that you are well-prepared and take the interview seriously. Technical issues can occur, such as problems with electronic devices or email systems. Having physical copies ensures that you can still provide your CV and documents if needed.

5. Eat a healthy meal before the interview

Candidates just make a rush to reach the interview hall without having the right & healthy portion of food. Feeling hungry during an interview is distracting, so eating something light shortly before your interview can be beneficial which will make you feel more alert and comfortable during the interview.

6. Turning off / Silent your cell phone before the interview

Candidates forget to switch off or silent their phones before entering into interview hall where Incoming calls, text messages, or notifications can disrupt the flow of the interview, making it difficult for you and the interviewer to maintain focus. The most basic thing a candidate should do is to turn off the cell phone completely. Waiting for the Interview Many times when you arrive for an interview, you may have to wait in a reception area for quite some time before being called into the interview so at that time remember to turn it off / silent.

7. Getting a few minutes early

Getting late before your interview creates a poor first impression & rushing to an interview can increase your stress and anxiety levels, which can negatively affect your performance and overall demeanor. Arriving early shows that you are punctual and value the interviewer's time. It reflects your reliability and professionalism. Being early allows you to get a feel for the company’s environment, culture, and office setting.

8. Prepare Checklist

Without a checklist, you might forget to cover important topics or questions, leading to a disorganized and less effective interview. Lack of a structured plan can increase stress and anxiety. A checklist helps ensure you’re fully prepared for various aspects of the interview, such as key questions, company research, and personal achievements. Try to make sure your phone is silent, your attire is clean & well-ironed, prepare relevant questions, research about the company, and so on.

Preparing thoroughly before an interview is essential for making a positive and lasting impression. By following these key steps, you can enhance your readiness, demonstrate professionalism, and maximize your chances of hiring & “Getting your Dream Job in Nepal “
