There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes...

Why do we let things like the weather affect our moods?
I have written something similar before but I caught myself doing it again last week and, having also seen it all over social media, I felt compelled to write about it.
I had a few days off over the school holidays and took my boys to Wicksteed Park. I had planned it a month earlier so wasn’t sure of the weather.
As it got closer it became apparent it wasn’t going to be “good weather” for the day, but I had picked something that was mainly outdoors in February so … what did I expect?
As we got there it started to rain heavier and heavier, and it was about thirty minutes in when I realised I was telling myself what a bad day it was, asking why had I picked this day, complaining it’s cold, it’s wet, the day is rubbish.
I then looked up to see my boys and their cousin running around laughing and playing … were they not getting wet, were they not as cold as me? Yes!
In fact, they were probably wetter and colder but, you see, they haven’t been programmed yet to allow something they cannot control dictate their mood. It was then I decided I wasn’t going to, either, and guess what? I started to enjoy myself, too.
There are many quotes that are relevant here, but the one that hit me was: “There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes.”
When in your life do you let something you have no control over dictate how you feel about it? What could you do today to “wear better clothes”?
