Be Thin

Many Coraid customers used the SRX but never got a chance to try the VSX. What’s a VSX, you ask? It’s a simple way to virtualize the storage in your SRXs, adding neat storage features such as thin provisioning to ATA-over-Ethernet.
Thin provisioning allows you to create a large logical volume without needing actual storage space. As you use the advertised space, the VSX dips into your storage pool to allocate more extents. If the pool gets shallow, add more physical volumes to deepen it. It’s that easy.
The VSX’s real power is that it allows you to put off spending the cash for more drives until you’re sure you need them. When you run out of bays in your SRX, just purchase another shelf at a commodity price and continue growing.
Coraid is different that way. Sure, other storage companies offer thin provisioning, but they certainly don’t focus on cost savings. They’re more concerned with getting the money in your wallet into their wallet as quickly as possible.
A VSX has no disks. You can think of it as a NAT for your ATA-over-Ethernet storage arrays. Just add it to the SRXs you already have and start using it right away. The SRX LUNs are Physical Volumes to the VSX.
The VSX can do a lot more, and the Coraid team would like to talk to you about it. To learn more about how you can add VSXs to your Coraid network, please fill a simple form using this link - https://coraid.com/start.html
